Immigration to Canada from India in 2021: A simple guide
In 2019, Indians were the most common recipients of
permanent residency in Canada. With open immigration laws and a goal of over a
million new arrivals between 2019 and 2021, Canada has a lot of appeal for
migrants from all over the world.
While there are several methods to migrate to
Canada, Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program are the most common
options for permanent residence (PNP).
What is the Express Entry?
Express
Entry is an internet site run by the Canadian government that manages permanent
residency applications from skilled overseas employees.
Express
Entry manages Canada PR applications for 3
programs:
a.
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
b.
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
c.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
You must obtain a score of 67 out of 100 in order
to be considered for Express Entry.
The Canada Skilled Immigration Points Calculator
can help you determine your eligibility.
Once a candidate's profile has been accepted into
the Express Entry Pool, it is compared to other candidates' profiles using the
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
Keep in mind that the eligibility calculation and
the CRS are two separate processes.
What is
the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)?
Being nominated by a province is another popular
option to obtain permanent status in Canada.
The PNP does not include Nunavut or Quebec. While
Nunavut does not have an induction programme for immigrants, Quebec does. The
Quebec Skilled Worker Scheme (QSWP) is a separate programme for inducting
immigrants to the province.
The initial step in being nominated by any of the
PNP provinces or territories is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
directly to the province in question.
A provincial nomination, which adds 600 points to a
candidate's CRS score, can significantly increase a candidate's prominence.
A provincial nomination ensures that the
candidate's profile will be picked in the next EE Pool draw, and that the
candidate will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian PR.
Certain Pilot programmes, such as the Atlantic
Immigration Pilot, the Agri-Food Immigration Pilot, and the Rural and Northern
Immigration Pilot, can also lead to Canadian PR (RNIP). Following the success
of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot, the Government of Canada launched the RNIP.
